Why I Started Innov8tion Hub
From banking to Kingston classrooms to a company built around systems and literacy: why Caribbean businesses need more than another digital deliverable.
It did not start with a company name
It started with a job that would not let me into marketing.
I spent about two years in banking. When it became clear I was not going to shift out of customer service into the marketing work I wanted, I branched out on my own. That decision put me in rooms with Jamaican brands that needed digital help, and eventually in workshops with creatives and entrepreneurs who had talent but uneven access to practical digital skills.
You can still find that side of my work at iammoniquemcintosh.com: digital marketing, training, speaking, brand strategy. Innov8tion Hub grew from the same conviction, just with a wider brief.
What I kept seeing in Kingston
Through community programmes, including social media training with Kingston Creative in Downtown Kingston, and hundreds of hours with entrepreneurs, the same pattern kept showing up.
A graphic designer who could make beautiful work but struggled to turn that into a clear online offer. A hair stylist with loyal clients and almost no digital system behind the appointments. Young founders in digital entrepreneurship programmes who learned a tool on Tuesday and were back in WhatsApp-only operations by Friday.
On the brand side, I watched businesses rely on word of mouth, play it safe, or stay quiet about what they do, while free and paid tools sat unused because nobody had a coach, a system, or a reason to change the day-to-day.
The tools were already here. The operating habits were not.
The insight behind the Hub
Caribbean businesses do not mainly need another template or another subscription. They need practical systems and the literacy to run them, shaped for how we actually sell: referral-heavy, WhatsApp-first, resource-aware, and often under-served by imported playbooks.
That is why Innov8tion Hub organises work as Growth Engines rather than one-off deliverables:
- Brand Engine: positioning, identity, websites, and content that make your value easier to understand.
- Lead Engine: marketing, capture, follow-up, and automation shaped around how you sell.
- Knowledge Engine: workshops and enablement so your team can operate the system after we leave.
Strategy, build, and training stay connected on purpose. That is the lesson from years of watching capability stop at the handoff.
Who this is for
If your business has been “online” for years and still feels stuck, you are not behind. You are in the pattern I built this company to interrupt. If your team has tools and still runs everything in chat, that is a systems and literacy problem. If you are early-stage and want the next step clear before you overbuild, that is a discovery conversation worth having.
I started Innov8tion Hub so Caribbean and diaspora-led businesses could stop confusing digital activity with progress, and start building foundations that compound.
